The Saffron, “Crocus Sativus”, since the age of the Medici family has grown at the slope of Pratomagno mountain, a perfect place to grow, thanks to the caracteristics of the rocky and draning soil, ideal for the maintenance of the bulb.

The bulb is planted in August from whick is picked the flower in October.

Its cycle lasts 4 years.

It is grown on soil ridges to avoid water stagnation and its care and remove of wild grass are all manual practices.

Its flowers are picked even closed in the early morning and with skilled hands, the petals are opened to take the red stigmas from the flower.

Finally the stigmas are dried at low temperature to mantain the fragrance and the unique flavor.
